If you’re planning a night out in La Paz, look no further!  Whether looking for a casual drink and some jazz, a energetic karaoke bar, or a wild night of club and bar hopping, you’ve got your pick with some great establishments.

La Casa de Villa: It’s the “chic” club in town.  Prices are reasonable and the service is good, except for when is crowded, in that case, you’re better off going to the bar and ordering yourself. The best way to get a table is to order a bottle (rum, whisky, vodka).  Open from Thursday through Sunday, but the best day is Saturday. Dress Code formal, the security guards at the entrance won´t let you in if you’re not dressed up, except if you’re foreigner, in that case you can wear shorts and tennis shoes. NO SANDALS or Tank tops

  • Music- Top hits, English and Spanish, pop, rock, R&B, hip hop
  • Ages- 18 – 35 (sometimes a little younger, 16, 17)
  • Address- Alvaro Obregon and 16 de Septiembre. Right on the malecon, in front of the central kiosk

The Jungle Bar: Bar during the day and club at night. During the day it’s pretty lonely, you´ll see a couple of tourists but that’s it. At night, it is crowded. There´s a VIP section that´s much more comfortable than the rest of the place. The decor is literally a jungle, paintings of lions, zebras, monkeys, riddled with neon lights. The service is not the best, unless you´re in the VIP section.  The best way to get a drink is to go straight to the bar and tip the bartender. Dress code is casual, you can dress up or use flip flops. The majority of the crowd seem to be marine biologists and soft core rockers. There’s a biker night once a month, so all the Harley Davidson guys gather up and party there.

  • Music- Hits of the moment English & Spanish, pop, rock, R&B, hip hop and mostly Latin rock. Sometimes there’s a live band, but it is not a regular thing.
  • Ages- 18 – 35 (sometimes a little younger, 16, 17)
  • Address- Alvaro Obregon and 16 de Septiembre. Right on the malecon.

Las Varitas: Oldest club in town. Almost dedicated 100% to Latin rock, but they have different events every day of the week, so the music depends on that. Lady’s night on Friday is now a tradition, free drinks for girls and a striptease show, guys are allowed in after 11 pm. Las Varitas brings some of the best rock concerts in town with both national and international bands. It’s the club that stays open the latest in town, so usually everybody ends up there after a little bar hopping.

La Esquina: Small but fun. The place has a minimalist decor, great service, good prices and excellent people. They also show the most popular sports like soccer, boxing and football. It´s one of the few places that is completely a/c. Dress code casual/formal.

Papas & Beer: Loud music, crowded and fun. This is the place if you want to party like a rock star.
